Case against Shoaib in fake passport racket

Hyderabad, May 26 (UNI) The investigation into Mecca Masjid bomb blast case took a new turn today with city police registering a case against Shoaib Jagirdhar, who was arrested at Jalna town in Maharastra in connection with the blast, for his alleged involvement in the fake passport racket unearthed after the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara recently.

According to an official release here, the Special Investigation Cell (SIC), probing the May 18 blast case, revealed that Jagirdhar was a close associate of Nayeem alias Sameer, who was arrested in West Bengal while crossing Indo-Bangla border along with three LeT cadres.

During interrogation, Jagirdhar had earlier disclosed that he was associated with Sameer and had visited Hyderabad in February 2007 and stayed along with him in a house to secure a fake passport for Sameer, who is a LeT member.

Jagirdhar was brought to the city and the SIC was interrogating him for his alleged involvement in the blast.

He was suspected to have procured the RDX used in the blast at the Masjid.

Meanwhile Sameer, involved in the Aurangabad arms haul case, was presently in judicial custody in Mumbai, the release added.
