Bus Rapid Transit System to be introduced

Visakhapatnam, May 26 (UNI) A Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) along with two corridors in the city under the Jawaharlal National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) would be introduced in the city, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner M K Meena said today.

He told UNI here that the APSRTC would invest 51 percent, GVMC and Visakhapatnam Urban Ddevelopment Authority (VUDA) 25 per cent and 24 per cent respectively in the project.

A registered company, Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be set up to implement the BRTS and it would be responsible for planning, procuring, managing, operating and maintaining the fleet of buses under the Rs 453 crore project.
