BJP Mahila Morcha distances itself from Raje's 'poster controversy'
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The BJP Mahila Morcha today distanced itself from the ''poster controversy'', showing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and other top BJP leaders as 'Gods and Goddesses', and said the party was in no way associated with the actions, concerning faith and beliefs of individuals.
BJP Mahila Morcha President Kiran Maheshwari when asked about the poster, which portrayed Ms Raje as Goddess Annapurna and for which it was questioned in the Court of law, said the BJP was not associated with the episode.
''We (BJP) can't be blamed for actions of individual faiths and beliefs,'' she said.
Reports from Rajasthan said the posters were brought out by a ruling party legislator projecting Ms Raje and top BJP leaders, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Rajnath Singh as Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh to commemorate the completion of three years of the BJP government in Rajasthan.
She said the National Executive of Mahila Morcha will be meeting for two days at Rishikesh on June 2-3. BJP President Rajnath Singh will inagurate the meet on the opening day and party's senior leader Sushma Swaraj will make her concluding remark. Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri and Ms Raje will address the Executive.
The Executive, she said, would focus on the double-standards'' of the Congress government on the Women's Reservation Bill. ''The constituents of UPA had tore down the Bill presented during the NDA regime and now even after three years in power, they were unable to come out with the draft of the Bill to provide 33 per cent reservation to women in Legislative Assemblies and Parliamentary forum,'' Ms Maheshwari added.
She said the meeting will also discuss the ''attack'' on Ram Sethu in the name of Sethusamudram project, aimed at linking east and western coasts of the peninsula.
