BJP bereft of candidates: Jamuna Devi

Guna, MP, May 26 (UNI) Taking a dig at the Madhya Pradesh BJP, deader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi today said the BJP was fielding Congressmen as its candidates because it was bereft of candidates.

''This is precisely the reason behind the BJP providing ticket to Mr Ganesh Gautam, who previously contested as a Congress nominee,'' Ms Devi told reporters, before leaving for campaigning for assembly by-election in Shivpuri constituency.

Ms Devi claimed that law and order situation was not proper in the state and several government officials, including police officials, had borne the burnt of workers of Hindu organisations.

However, no action was being taken against such elements.

Replying to a question, she denied factionalism in the Congress and said former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Shivpuri MLA K P Singh were not in the election area because of pre-scheduled programmes.
