Mangalore, May 26 (UNI) The Karnataka unit of Samajwadi Party (SP) President S Bangarappa today described the JD(S)-BJP coalition government as a ''glamourous and publicity'' government and criticised it for not showing any concern to the problems of poor and farmers in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the coalition government was not serious about economic growth of the state.

''By getting huge publicity through staying in villages will not develop the state. The Chief Minister should initiate welfare programmes for the poor, otherwise the village stay would become meaningless,'' he charged.

Referring to the recent debacle of SP in Uttar Pradesh election, Mr Bangarappa said there was an early indication that the national parties would lose their ground in UP.

He said the UPA government at the Centre had failed to control the escalating price of essential commodities.

He came down heavily on Left parties, which were supporting the policies of the Centre.

''If the Left withdraw their support, the UPA government will collapse. Both the UPA government at the Centre and the JD(S)-BJP government in Karnataka will not last long,'' he said.

On the recent statement by a state Cabinet Minister that Mr Kumaraswamy would not hand over charges to B S Yadiyurappa, after completing 20 months, Mr Bangarappa alleged that there were already sufficient indications from Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda which raised doubts on handing over the charge.
