AFSPA extended for another six months in Manipur
Imphal, May 26 (UNI) The Manipur government has decided to extend the Disturbed Area status in Manipur for another six months.
The Imphal Municipal areas consisting of Greater Imphal, however, will continue to be out of the purview of the status. The extension of disturbed area status entails extension of Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 in Manipur for another six months.
The Act is extended every six months.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held last night presided by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, officials said.
The Cabinet further decided to extend term of contract teachers in the hill districts.
The Cabinet also discussed about the distribution of essential items in the state.
