Badwani, MP, May 26 (UNI) About 400 hens have reportedly died due to an unknown disease during the past 10 days at Rajangaon in Sendhwa town in this district.

Rajangaon sarpanch Subhari Bai and up-sarpanch Dev Singh said the hens were behaving strangely. Several of these hens had been provided as a part of employment scheme.

Last year, culling operation had been performed in Rajangaon in view of bird flu threat.

''A team of veterinary experts has been dispatched to Rajangaon to ascertain the exact cause. After last year's culling operation, poultry farming had been stopped for six months,'' Veterinary Deputy Director (Badwani) G S Dabur said.

Dr Dabur said the samples would be sent to Bhopal-based High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL) for examination.
