2 die of sun stroke in Purulia, Heat Wave condition Continue

Kolkata, May 26 (UNI) A Heat wave killed two people in drought prone Purulia district as extreme humidity made life miserable in most of the districts of West Bengal as mercury level soared during the day.

Neru Gope (42) of Balarampur and Haren Mahato (54) of Papa village have died of dehydration as mercury soared to 45.2 degrees Celsius in Purulia today, official sources said.

This was the first case of death due to sun stroke in this summer season. Local weathermen said such heat wave condition would remain for the next few days.

Elsewhere in the state, the maximum temperature in Kolkata was at 36.2 degrees Celcius, one degree above normal and minimum temperature was at 28.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

There was no sign of rain as sky was clear and spotless.

The maximum relative humidity was at 90 per cent.

Met officials forecast was partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or thunderstorm towards the evening or night.
