VIP lounge in Patna Airport catches fire, no injury
Patna, May 25 (UNI) The VIP lounge of the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport here caught fire during a repair work this afternoon causing minor damage to governmernt property.
Director of Airport Atul Dikshit informed that the fire broke out when a welder, who was repairing the air-conditioning plant near the lounge with an inflammable rod, came in contact with some combustible material which caught fire.
As the fire engulfed the surrounding areas, panic-stricken airport employees and others began running helter skelter.
Fire tenders were pressed into service who controlled the blaze in half an hour. Members of the CISF contingent at the airport also helped.
Though there was no report of any injury, government property worth several thousand of rupees were damaged.
Work at the Airport was, however, not affected, the director confirmed.
