Tamil Nadu: Three die of asphyxiation

Chennai, May 25: Three people, including a bank employee, died of asphyxiation after they inhaled poisonous gas while cleaning a septic tank at suburban Madipakkam here, last evening.

Police sources said Sundararajan (45), a bank employee, had engaged one Rajendran (22) to clean the tank. When Rajendran, who got into the tank for cleaning, did not return, the services of a private security guard were sought. However, he also did not come up.

An anxious Mr Sundararajan also entered the tank and met with the same fate.

Fire service personnel retrieved the bodies and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
