Spreading message of peace on cycle
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, May 25 (UNI) With a mission to wipe out terrorism, two people are pedalling their way from Madurai to Pakistan.
Maduraiveeran (40) of Madurai, a taxi driver by profession, and Thirumalaisamy (30) of Dindukkal, a Forest department employee, embarked on the cycle journey on May 11 to create awareness about the ramifications of violence.
The two, who had halted at Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Villupuram, Thindivanam, Chennai and Sriperumbudur, reached Kancheepuram today. They handed over a memorandum, stressing their cause, to the Kancheepuram Collectorate.
Later addressing mediapersons here, Maduraiveeran said this was their 18th trip, including one in 2002 to Delhi and Kashmir to spread the values of compassion and humaneness.
''Every year, we undertake such trips for two months. Our goal is that everyone in this world should live in harmony and shun violence,'' he said.
From here, the duo would go to Vellore, Hosur, Bangalore, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and Wagah enroute to Lahore. They would reach Pakistan by June 15.
