Rs 6.25 cr financial aid extended to poor patients: Valsaraj
Puducherry, May 25 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has extended financial assistance to the tune of Rs 6.25 crore so far to poor people for treatment of life threatening diseases, Health Minister E Valsaraj said today.
In a statement here, he said the administration had started the scheme to provide financial relief to the poor for treating life threatening disease during 1999-2000, and since then, 881 patients were benefitted.
Under the scheme, 75 per cent of the treatment cost would be remitted directly to the hospital and the remaining could be collected by the patient after treatment on production of relavent documents. Assistance were granted for heart surgeries, kidney transplantation, cancer, among other ailments, he added.
