Vasundhara Raje postpones return to Jaipur
Jaipur, May 25: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had a hairbreadth escape from a plane crash yesterday when the Aircraft developed a snag as soon as it took off for the pink city from New Delhi.
Both the generators of the Chief Minister's plane failed immediately after the take off, which resulted in the shutdown of its electric supply. An emergency landing was made and the front wheel of the plane was damaged in the process.
Mrs Raje, fortunately, had a narrow escape. The Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered a statutory inquiry into the malfunctioning of the aircraft with an immediate effect.
The party workers and supporters here were disappointed with the development as they had arranged a grand welcome for the Chief Minister, who was honoured with the United Nations ''Womens Together Award''.
Mrs Raje has thanked the public for their concern and expressed her regrets for the incovenience of people who had been waiting to welcome her.
Her journey is rescheduled for tomorrow, according to the official sources.
The Chief Minister had returned to Delhi yesterday after a 10-day visit to Dubai, London and New York and was scheduled to return to the state capital today.
