PWD SDO arrested while accepting bribe in HP

Mandi, May 25 (UNI) A senior PWD official was today arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor for releasing his payment of Rs 5.60 lakh in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, police sources said.

PWD SDO Manoj Kumar was arrested by a team of anti-corruption bureau red handed, while he was receiving Rs 30,000 from the contractor at Seri Manch here.

The sources said the contractor had approached the anti-corruption bureau, alleging that the SDO was demanding money from him following which a trap was laid and arrested while accepting the money.

A case has been registered against him and investigations were on.
