Proposal for reviving 12 Bengal PSEs sent to BRPSE:Dev

Kolkata, May 25 (UNI) Proposal for reviving 12 Public Sector Enterprises(PSEs) in Bengal has been sent to the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises(BRPSE), Minister of Heavy Industries&Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev said here today.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Dev said, ''Out of the total 25 Bengal-based PSEs, we have sent proposals for the 12 PSEs to BRPSE.'' He said, ''My ministry has already approved the revival and restructuring of four Bengal-based PSUs which are Andrew Yule&Company Ltd, Bridge&Roof Company Ltd, BBJ Construction Company Ltd and Braithwaite&Company Ltd.'' Mr Dev said the subsidiaries of these companies would also be revived. For example Andrew Yule's two subsidiaries Pheonix Yule and Tide Water Oil would be revived within the next two months.

''I have met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today and he also expressed interest about revival of the PSEs,'' he said.

''I have told the chief minister to convert the National Instruments Limited, another PSU, to a Research and Development Centre. This company would be handed over to Jadavpur University.

However, the University will have to run the company and cannot sell the PSU's land,'' he said.

The Centre would waive all liabilities of the company to ensure its revival while the state government would give an assistance of Rs 8 crore. NIL currently manufactures necessary equipment for the defence.

When asked about the revival package of Burn Standard, he said the matter was delayed due to a court case. It would be resolved soon.
