Police picked up 12 persons in violence at Mecca Masjid
Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) Police picked up 12 persons at Mecca Masjid, where a bomb blast killed nine people on May 18, when a mob pelted stones at the police during a procession after the Friday prayers today.
Police said 20 persons were picked up from the spot when the mob threw stones at police and shops, damaging a police vehicle and two private two wheelers.
However, the law and order situation was under control at the sensitive Old City area, where the mosque and the world famous Charminar were located.
Section 144 was clamped in the area and huge police and paramilitary forces were stationed around Mecca masjid to prevent further violences.
