Parents try to abduct daughter, case registered
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Police today arrested five people and registered cases against several others, including parents of a girl, who tried to abduct her from the High Court premises here this morning for allegedly marrying against their wish.
The abduction bid took place when the girl, Imrana (18), along with her husband Sajid Qureshi (22), had come to the court in connection with the hearing of a kidnapping case filed by her father against Sajid afer the two eloped in April, the police said.
As the couple was entering the court premises one of Imrana's brothers caught both of them and beat them up. He, along with others, also tried to take her away in a car but was intervened by the people there.
Later, the court, after the hearing, ordered the police to go according to the girl's verdict as she was a major and register a case against those responsible for her plight. It also ordered the Delhi Police to provide protection to the couple.
Both the parties --Imrana's and Sajid's family-- were later taken to the Tilak Marg police station where a case of harassment was registered against Imrana's parents based on her statement.
Prior to this, Imrana was medically administered at the RML hospital for the injuries inflicted by her brother.
The kidnappin case against Sajid had been registered at the Sarita Vihar police station.
Imrana and her family were tenants of Sajid's family when they reportedly fell in love and married on April 16 this year.
