M'shtra: Meeting btwn SSS, KZSDUS ends in deadlock
Kolhapur, May 25: A meeting between the representatives of Swabhimani Sahakari Sanghatana (SSS) and the Kolhapur Zilla Sahakari Dudh Utpadak Sangh (KZSDUS), called here to discuss the proposed hike in milk rate and a bandh by milk collection centres on Saturday, ended in a deadlock.
SSS has called for a four-day bandh by milk collection centres from May 26, demanding Rs 18 per litre to the milk-producing farmers in western Maharashtra.
In the meet, KZSDUS representatives expressed their inability to hike the milk prices, while SSS representatives, led by MLA Raju Shetty, pressed in support of their demand.
The meeting was called by District Collector Pravin Darade.
Talking to reporters later, Mr Shetty said they would go with their proposed bandh for the welfare of milk-supplying farmers.
