Mayawati refers Reliance group SEZ to Centre

New Delhi. May 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today reiterated her Government's decision to refer to the Centre for review of the previous SP-led government's allotment of land to Anil Ambani led Reliance group for the Special Economic Zone(SEZ) in the state.

She claimed that rules were breached by the previous regime to give green signal to the group for SEZ.

''A Committee will review all the land acquisitions made for SEZs. In its preliminary report, it has found that certain rules were ignored to favour the Ambani group,'' she said here.

She asserted that farmers' land will not be given away for the SEZs, the deals must have their consent.

She said her government will review certain decisions of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, while claiming that she will not indulge in political vendetta against anyone.

Ms Mayawati is here in Delhi for two days to hold a party meeting and also hold parleys on the Presidential elections. Insisting that she wanted cordial relations with the Centre, Ms Mayawati said her government will adopt a positive attitude and cooperate with the Centre on various schemes and programmes.

She also promised to keep up good ties with Delhi. ''We have recently resolved the bus dispute between Delhi and UP,'' she added.

Giving an assurance that her Government will not discriminate on caste lines, she said she believed in the dictum 'Sarv jan hitaye, Sarv jan sukhaye' (Good for all and happiness for all).

She however stressed that criminals would be brought to book with an iron hand. ''Either they will put behind bars or forced to flee the state,'' she said.
