Mayawati discusses presidential poll at BSP national executive meet
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati tonight held a three-hour-long cosultation with senior party leaders at the party's national executive meeting here in which a number of political issues, including the choice of presidential candidate came up for discussion.
The BSP, which won over 200 seats in the recently concluded UP Assembly elections, can play a crucial role in building a balance in favour of or against any candidate in the coming presidential poll.
Earlier in the day, Ms Mayawati also met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and tomorrow she will be meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Before meeting Ms Gandhi, she addressed a press conference here and said the party would take its final decision on the prospective presidential candidate only after consulting party MLAs who were not invited to the party's executive meet here.
Sources did not rule out Ms Mayawati meeting other leaders during the course of her stay in the capital till tomorrow.
