New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Declaring that it was an end to the ''Tabadla Udyog'' (Transfer Industry) in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mayawati today said all transfers, barring those of the Chief Secretary and at the ADG level, would now be handled by the Service Board.

''The transfer industry has thrived enough in the state, but all that will be stopped,'' she said in her first interaction with mediapersons here after assuming chief ministership of the country's most populous state.

''I will now look after only the matters related to the transfers of the chief secretary and ADGs, and thus concentrate on the development of the state,'' said Ms Mayawati, who had launched a consistent attack on the previous Samajwadi Party Government headed by Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav for ''turning transfers into an industry.'' The posting of officers was now being based on seniority and merit, said the Chief Minister, adding that the administrative system would be made apolitical and free of corruption.

For example, the Industrial Council had been dissolved to stop political favouritism shown to industrialists, she said She underlined that her priority would be to bring about efficiency and accountability in the administration and restore the rule of law as people were fed up with the 'Jungle Raj' of the previous government.
