Chennai, May 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi today had a dig at actor-politician Vijayakanth for making a ''hue and cry'' over the demolition of his marriage hall for building a grade separator at Koyambedu junction in the city to ease traffic congestion.

Answering a set of questions, Mr Karunanidhi, without mentioning the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) leader by name, said only those who had built bungalows after amassing wealth would not have the mind to part with their properties for public cause.

Assuring that the government would provide adequate compensation to those who would be displaced for the airport expansion project, he said the poor would always be generous to part with their properties for the welfare of the people.

They would not create a hue and cry over the government taking over their properties for public cause, he said with an indirect reference to Mr Vijayakanth charges that the demolition of the marriage hall was politically motivated and aimed at stalling his political growth.

Mr Karunanidhi was answering a question whether poor people living in huts would become unhappy when the government demolish 947 huts, tiled roof and concrete houses for expanding the existing airport.

On Centre's decision to introduce a legislation to provide social security to workers in the unorganised sector, Mr Karunanidhi said the DMK government had already enacted a legislation to the effect and the Union Government had come forward to enact a similar legislation.

However, the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) expressed some reservations over the Centre's proposed legislation, he said adding only after getting the full details of the legislation, he could comment on it.
