Hizb militant among 2 killed, infiltration bid foiled in J
Srinagar, May 25 (UNI) A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was among two people killed while security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today.
Security forces foiled an infiltration bid by some Pakistani intruders and seized huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including six AK 47 rifles, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu region today.
Defence spokesperson Col D K Badola told UNI in Jammu that the Army personnel noticed suspicious movement of a group of some intruders near the forward defence location at Chakla in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri district at around 0200 hrs.
Troops fired but the intruders managed to flee across the LoC, Col Badola said, adding security forces later seized a bag containing arms and ammunition, including six AK 47 rifles, and some blood-stained clothes from the spot.
An official spokesman said security forces shot dead a Hizb militant, Imtiaz Ahmed Wani, at Malhoora village in Shopian district last evening in a gun-battle.
Suspected militants intruded into the house of Abdul Lateef in Gandoh sector of Doda district early today and fired upon him. He was critically wounded in the firing.
Lateef was immediately rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, the spokesman added. Security forces have launched a massive hunt to nab the ultras responsible for the firing.
The spokesman said Mushtaq Ahmed Parray informed the police that a grenade was lying under his Indica car at Hajan in Bandipora district today.
Police immediately swung into action and rushed to the spot and removed the grenade without causing any damage.
Fire broke out in an auto rickshaw on the Shariefabad road near Parimpora police station, which ended in a blast. However, no loss of life or property was reported in the incident, the spokesman said, adding police have launched investigations.
He said three persons entered into the house of Aijaz Ahmed Khan at Saria Payeen Amirakadal near here and looted Rs 12,000, three mobile phones and some gold ornaments at gunpoint.
