Hindustan Lever Ltd to be Hindustan Unilever Ltd

New Delhi, May 25: Country's largest FMCG company Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) has rechristened itself and will now be known as Hindustan Unilever Ltd( HUL).

The members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company have passed the resolution to this effect by the requisite majority, a statement said.

Earlier, the board of directors of HLL had approved the change in the name of the company which was subject to shareholders' approval at the AGM.

The earlier name of the company, Hindustan Lever Ltd, was adopted in 1956, consequent to the amalgamation of Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Company Ltd and Lever Brothers India Ltd.

The company is readying an aggressive multi-lingual advertising campaign to tell consumers about its change of name which will begin in a month.

The enterprise is also designing new office stationery, letterheads and billboards.
