Joe James of Kozhikode bagged the first rank in the Medical stream, the second rank went to Arun V of Kollam and third to Mitti Manoj of Kannur.

The Minister said Ashwin Sudhakar (Thiruvananthapuram) topped the Engineering list in the SC/ST categories. In the Medical Stream, Anju K S and Asha S of Idukki were the toppers in this category.

While announcing the awards, Mr Baby said a final decision on the admission and fees structure had not been arrived at and talks with the self financing engineering and medical college managements were going on. He asked the managements, social and religious communities to cooperate with the Government in finding an amicable solution to the whole issue.

The self financing college managements had said during discussion that they were ready to admit students at Government fees but wanted the Government to pay for it, he said adding that this was not justifiable as the Government had been giving subsidies for students in various professional colleges.
