Former official, sarpanch wife accused of murder

Narsinghpur, MP, May 25 (UNI) A former engineer of the Water Resource department, his sarpanch wife and one another relative have been accused of harassing their daughter-in-law for dowry and burning her to death.

Police said a dowry case had been registered against Balram Singh, his wife and Hiranpur village sarpanch Urmila Singh and Urmila's brother Udayveer Singh. Murder charges were being included.

Seema Singh (29) was admitted to hospital on May 29 with 90 per cent burn injuries. After recording her dying declaration, she was sent for treatment to Jabalpur where she died on May 24.

In her dying declaration, Ms Singh charged her father-in-law, mother-in-law and uncle-in-law of harassing her for dowry and burning her after dousing her with kerosene.

Seema's husband had gone out to the market to fetch something.

The woman did not state anything against her husband in her dying declaration.
