Fake encounter matter adjourned till June 7

Ahmedabad, May 25 (UNI) The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court today adjourned hearing on the brain mapping and other tests to be conducted on six arrested police officers in the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi till June 7.

The defence counsels opposed the tests on different grounds. The CID (Crime) had moved an application seeking permission to conduct the brain mapping and narco-analysis tests.

Suspended DIG (border range) D G Vanjhara's lawyer opposed the application contending that the test would affect his client's health as he was a heart patient since 2002.

Inspector N H Dabhi's advocate contended that the test cannot be carried out on his client before he was examined by his family doctor who is in the US at present. Only after his family doctor issues a fitness certificate, the FSL examination be carried out, he contended.

Advocate of M N Dinesh (IPS of the Rajasthan cadre) said he needed time to study the case as he had only recently been appointed as Mr Dinesh's advocate. Lawyer of Rajkumar Pandian (SP Intelligence Bureau) also opposed the test, citing health reasons of his client.

IG Geetha Johari, who is leading the investigation under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court, opposed these contentions alleging that the accused intended to avoid examinations on flimsy grounds.
