Expedite work on distributing photo I-cards, urges EC official

Anand, May 25 (UNI) Deputy Election Commissioner Jay P Prakash and four other senior officials today met Anand district collector R N Joshi and held discussions on the preparations for the forthcoming Gujarat assembly elections slated later this year.

Mr Prakash was informed that 80 per cent of voters in Anand district had been provided with photo identity cards. But, Mr Prakash said all the voters should be provided with the cards.

''All future elections will be based on photo identity cards and everyone should have it,'' he told the district officials. Mr Prakash later left for Vadodara in the evening.

Earlier in the day, Mr Prakash had met Kheda district collector Sanjiv Kumar and held similar discussions.
