Expansion of facilities for TB treatment in MP
Bhopal, May 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh is providing adequate publicity to facilities related to the cure of tuberculosis under the revised National TB Control programme (RNTCP).
Health Commissioner Rajesh Rajora said one TB unit and one microscopy centre had been set up in general areas on a population of five lakh people and one lakh people respectively.
In tribal areas, these units had been established on a population of 2.50 lakh and 50,000 people respectively.
These units provide testing, X-ray and DOTS treatment facilities to patients free of cost. DOTS facility enables complete cure of the disease within six-eight months instead of one-and-half year time in the earlier method.
He said high-quality medicines are provided free of cost. As a result of employing DOTS treatment facility, the success rate of curing patients has increased from 35.40 per cent to 83 per cent in the state.
