Drizzle soothes Delhiites but temperature remains 'normal'

New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Mild drizzle in the evening and a cloudy sky today helped the temperature in the Capital slide to an extent despite the maximum being recorded at 40.7 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD 'traces' of rainfall were noticed in some parts of the city and even a storm was recorded at 14.28 hrs at Palam with a velocity of about 59 km per hour.

Even as the minimum temperature was 26.0 degrees, one degree below normal, the sun was scorching hot during most of the day with maximum temperature knocking the 40.7 degrees C mark, which was 'normal' at this time of the year, said the Met department.

For the next 24 hours, the weatherman predicts a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm accompanied by squall in soma areas.

Also, the maximum temperature is likely to remain around 39 degrees, it added.
