Jammu, May 25 (UNI) National Conference president Omar Abdullah today criticised the Jammu and Kashmir in providing adequate infrastructure at newly created districts of the state.

Addressing a public gathering at Mandi in border district of Poonch, Mr Abdullah said while government has created various districts and tehsils, it has failed to make available adequate infrastructure for their smooth functioning.

He said the situation in these administrative units is same as that of newly opened educational institutions as these also lack both adequate staff and infrastructure.

Mr Omar said government has already admitted its failure by declaring that for next one year most of the departments in newly created administrative units would function in concurrence with the mother districts. The government's failure to make these administrative units fully functional has once again proved its inability, he added.

He said limiting these districts to a few departments have created confusion among the people of these newly created administrative units.

Criticising government for its failure on all fronts, Omar said what purpose all these so-called 'bold initiatives' are to serve when the common man is still being kept aloof of the benefits, the coalition partners have been claiming about.

Mr Abdullah said mis-management and inability to deliver goods have become the watch words for the present coalition government.

''During over one-week stay in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, what I have seen here is a very depressing picture, which indicates that ruling parties have desperately failed in keeping the promises they made to people during last assembly elections,'' he said.
