CM predicts Congress victory in Hamirpur bypolls

Hamirpur, May 25 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister today predicted Congress' victory in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha by-polls, saying that the party will repeated its performance there after its victory in the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) Addressing election meetings at Badakamlah, Gona, Bhuntel, Dhaneta and Kohla in Hamirpur district of the state, he said results of the SMC have proved that despite minor setbacks, the Congress was much ahead of others right from day one.

Mr Singh said the Congress' victory at Shimla was the victory of the party's policies and programmes and would help in defeating the BJP in the parliamentary elections on June two.

The successive state Congress government's pro-people policies, Himachal has done exceptionally well in education, per capita income, per capita savings, horticulture and other fields, he said.

He called upon the people of Hamirpur constituency to vote for Congress for the stability and prosperity of the state.

Accusing the BJP of raising issues of regionalism, castism and favoritism during the elections, he said the party always raised these issues to remain in the limelight.

However, such gimmicks would not yield favorable results this time as the people of the state has seen their real face, the chief minister said.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, party legislator from Nadaun and state president of the Youth Congress, assured the chief minister of continued support to the Congress candidate from the area.
