CLP criticises land grabbing stir by CPM
Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) Criticising the land grabbing stir by the CPI(M) in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today demanded that the lands held by their leaders be distributed to the poor people.
Addressing a press conference here, Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and Housing Minister B Satyanarayana said there was no meaning in CPI(M) organising land grabbing stir when the State Government was distributing the lands to landless poor and constructing houses for them in the state.
The CPM during its three decades rule in West Bengal had distributed only 11.11 lakh acres and this was admitted by the state Revenue Minister Asim Kumar Dasgupta during his budget speech on March 16 this year, the Congress leaders pointed out.
The state government had distributed 4.37 lakh acres during the last three years and constructed 20 lakh houses for the poor people compared to West Bengal government, which had issued six lakh house site title deeds, they added.
Charging the CPI(M) with launching the agitaiton by misleading the people for 'political gains, they said the state unit secretary of that party B V Raghuvulu was trying to appease the Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu for his personal interests.
The CPI(M) should stop the land grabbing stirs, they said alleging that the agitation was aimed with an eye to get advantage in the ensuing corporation elections to Hyderabad and Tirupati.
