Class 12 pass percentage 80.64, girls outdo boys yet again

New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) The CBSE twelfth class examination results this year registered an overall pass percentage of 80.64, an increase of 1.09 per cent from last year, with girls yet again outdoing boys.

Announcing the results, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly told a packed news conference that the overall pass percentage for girls was 85.02 while the boys lagged behind with 77.37 per cent.

''The girls have done exceptionally well this year also...it has been proved yet again that girls are far more focussed than boys,'' he added.

The Chennai region topped with 91.39 per cent of students clearing the exam while Delhi was at the fourth position (81.93 per cent).

The second slot went to Ajmer (85.18 per cent) followed by Panchkula (83.56 per cent) and Allahabad stood fifth (76.14 per cent).

As many as 5,03,161 candidates, an increase of 10.71 per cent from last year, had registered for the examination conducted from March 1 to April 10.

In Delhi, the pass percentage was 81.93 per cent against the previous year's 79.16 with the girls again maintaining a lead over their male counterpart at 85.88 per cent.

The over all percentage for boys was 78.28 per cent.
