Building for education not to be used for retail: Traders

Barrackpore, May 25 (UNI) Local traders here today objected to the opening of a Reliance Retail shop in the place earmarked for educational institution at Gora Bazar under Dum Dum Municipality.

The protestors submitted a memorandum to the Municipal authorities and staged demonstration before the municipal building.

The building was constructed with the permission of the municipal authorities for using it as an educational institution, the traders said.

Dum Dum Municipality Chairman Deepak Bhattacharya, however, said he would probe whether any of the civic rules had been violated in utilising the building premises.
