AIMA launches 'National Management Forum 2007'

Chennai, May 25 (UNI) In order to overcome the infrastructure bottlenecks, All India Management Association (AIMA), in collaboration with Madras Management Association (MMA), organised a 'National Management Forum 2007' here today.

The theme of the Forum ''Innovations to overcome Infrastructure Bottlenecks'' was chaired by Bank of Baroda Chairman Anil Khandelwal.

According to Economic Survey 2006-2007, an investment of US Dollar 320 billion was required in the infrastructure sector during the eleventh five-year plan.

These investments were to be achieved through a combination of public investment, public-private-partnerships (PPPs) and exclusive private investments, wherever feasible.

According to AIMA Director-General Maj Gen Nischol ''the overall index of six core industries-having a direct bearing on infrastructure and accounting for 27 per cent weight in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) registered a growth of 8.3 per cent during April-December 2006, which was higher than the 5.5 per cent registered during the same period in the previous year.

A high-level panel comprising Mr Subir Raha (President AIMA and ex-Chairman ONGC), Maj Gen G K Nischol (Director General, AIMA), Dr Anil Khandelwal (Chairman, Bank of Baroda), Mr Suresh Prabhu (Former Power Minister), Mr A K Saxena (Managing Director HAL) Dr K N Satyanarayana (Professor IIT Madras) and other top leaders in business and government addressed the meeting.
