7 sustain burns after lantern gas leak

Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, May 25 (UNI) Seven members of a family, including three women, sustained severe burns in a fire at a house following gas leak from an LPG lantern at village Ankara in Farasbahar block in Jashpur district.

Police said all injured, including three people who sustained third degree burns, were initially admitted to a hospital at Kunkuri, but later referred to a hospital at Ambikapur.

According to the injured, fire suddenly engulfed a room last night soon after one of them lit a match. Police said it appeared that there was gas leak from an LPG lantern and the family members did not realise it.

The injured have been identified as Jinendra Jaiswal, Krishna Jaiswal, Ms Jagma Bai, Ms Soni Bai, Virendra Kumar, Renu Mala and Sandhya Mala.

Farsabahar police has registered a case and investigations are on.
