1200 chickens perished in a fire

Hoshiarpur, May 25 (UNI) More than 1200 chickens perished in a devastating fire at Badowan village, 35 Km from here this afternoon.

According to the police sources, the fire suddenly broke out in a poultry-farm at about which engulfed the adjoining storage sheds.

The fire engines from Municipal Councils of Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr were requisitioned, which after fighting for an hour controlled the raging flames.

The cause of fire is stated to be the spark in the main electric wires due to the short-circut.

The SDM and DSP of Garhshankar reached the spot to make an assessment of the losses. The total loss was yet to be ascertained.
