UP govt suspends Buladshahar SSP, shifts DIG,Meerut after a murder

Lucknow, May 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today suspended Bulandshahar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) V K Singh and shifted DIG (Meerut range) Prabhat Kumar in the wake of the murder of a former block pramukh last night.

According to official sources, Mr Singh was suspended on a charge of dereliction of duty.

Former block pramukh and BJP leader Rakesh Kumar, a Dalit, was shot dead by some criminals who could not be aprrehended.

The state government has posted Sujit Kumar Pandey, commandant 47 battalion PAC at Ghaziabad, as the new District Police Chief of Bulandshahar.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kumar, till now the DIG, Police Headquarters, Allahabad, has been posted as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Meerut range swapping posts with Mr Kumar.

Incidentally, the suspended SSP had taken over the charge on May 15 last. Another incident of loot also took place in Bulandshahar yesterday.
