JK: 10 militants cross over from PoK to surrender
Srinagar, May 24: As many as ten militants from several outfits surrendered before the authorities along with arms and ammunition soon after crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's border district of Kupwara last evening, police said today.
One of the surrendered militants, Ghulam Nabi Chaudary alias Zaffar Iqbal from Kupwara and belonging to Tehreek-e-Jehad outfit, crossed over from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where he had gone for arms training, along with his wife Noor Jan, five-year-old son Ghulam Mujtaba and four-year-old daughter Ikra, they added.
The militants surrendered before the Army and the police authorities near the LoC in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district.
The other surrendered militants have been identified as Ghulam Hassan Ganie alias Umar Aftab, Tariq Ahmad Bhat alias Umar Adnan (both residents of Bandipora district and belonging to KLM outfit), Maqsood Ahmad Wani alias Bilal from Kupwara also of KLM, Jamait-ul- Mujahideen's Showkat Ahmad Sheikh of Gujarbel in Bandipora district, Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani alias Aftab Alam and Sameer Ahmad Rather alias Shahid (both from Badgam district and associated with Hizbul Mujahideen), Javed Ahmad Pir alias Jaffer and Mukhtyar Ahmad Qazi alias Mohammad Ishaq (both from Anantnag district and affliated with KRF outfit), and Abdul Majeed Bhat alias Saiffullah from Handwara, Kupwara and belonging to Al Barq.
The surrendered militants also handed over three AK rifles, three AK magazines, 58 rounds of ammunition, one .303 rifle, seven pistols, seven pistol magazines, 44 rounds of pistol ammunition, six hand grenades and one radio set to the authorities, police said.
