Tata Sons official draws management lessons from animal kingdom

Bangalore, May 24 (UNI) Drawing management lessons from endearing stories about the animal kingdom, Tata Sons Executive Director R Gopalakrishnan has written a book - 'The Case of the Bonsai Manager' - that examples 'lessons from nature on growing'.

Speaking after the launch of the book, his second, here last night, Mr Gopalakrishnan said that ''where the nature and management intersect, an intuitive leadership is born.'' In his book, he stressed that it was gut instinct that should take over, as intuition would be the key differentiator for excellence in future. ''Intuition nudges managers towards an agenda for change, for future managers will face different challenges as the world around them gets dramatically transformed. The top down approach would not work anymore, but an inclusive and humane-style of management would,'' he said.

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, who released the book, said role of intuition was a daily experience and nature provided a lot of excitement in daily life.
