Shahabuddin seeks permission for medical check-up at AIIMS

Patna, May 24 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the Bihar government to reply on a petition of incarcerated RJD MP Md Shahabuddin seeking permission for medical check-up at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

A single bench of Justice S.K.Sharma passed the order during the hearing of the petition for the treatment of his spinal cord disorder at the AIIMS.

The petitioner's counsel submitted before the court that the MP was shifted to Siwan jail on November 6, 2006 after being discharged from AIIMS following a spinal cord operation. The hospital had advised Md Shahabuddin to come for a check-up after three months,he said and claimed that the overall condition of the RJD MP had deteriorated during the past few days and he needed immediate check-up.

Meanwhile, the state counsel had sought a week's time to file the government reply on Md Shahabuddin's petition, which was later granted by the court.
