Shahabuddin appeals against life imprisonment in High Court

Patna, May 24 (UNI) Incarcerated RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin today filed a 'criminal appeal' in Patna High Court against his life imprisonment in a kidnapping case by a lower court of Siwan.

In his petition Shahabuddin alleged that the lower court judgement sentencing him to life imprisonment was 'illegal and unwarranted'.

He pointed out that the lone witness in the case, Sheetal Paswan had identified him in the court after more than seven years.

On May eight the lower court of Siwan had sentenced the RJD MP to rigorous life imprisonment in connection with the abduction of CPI(ML) leader Chhote Lal Gupta from Siwan in 1999.
