Runaway couple escape from court room in Haryana
Fatehabad, May 24 (UNI) A runaway couple, who had come to the local courts today to obtain a decree of their marriage through deceit, disappeared the moment their trick was exposed.
The cops, whom the presiding officer of the court had asked to inquire the matter, could not catch them despite efforts.
Reena, a young woman had filed a suit in the local courts against her 'husband' Rajiv, alleging he was not faithful to her and wanted to desert her for marrying some other woman.
The court transferred the matter to the permanent lok adalat, also called 'Samjhauta Sadan'.
Rajiv said in his reply that he had no intention of deserting Reena or marrying any other woman.
Even as the court was recording statements of the couple, a sub inspector of the police appeared in the court and told the court that the girl appeared to him the one who had eloped with a youth from village Dariyapur sometime back.
The presiding officer of the court asked the police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The couple, however, sneaked out of the courtroom and escaped on a scooter before anyone could notice.
It was later revealed that the girl belonged to Himachal Pradesh and had eloped with Rajiv, a local resident, three months back.
The couple tried to get their marriage registered in the office of registrar at that time but could not succeed due to some legal technicalities.
They then planned to get court approval of their marriage albeit through the back door. But before their plans could succeed, their trick was exposed in the court.
