PMSF demands implementation of Thorat Committee recommendations
New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) The pro-reservation Progressive Medicos and Scientists' Forum (PMSF) has demanded that the AIIMS administration implement the Thorat Committee recommendations for redressal of caste discrimination complaints in the institute.
In a memorandum submitted to AIIMS Director P Venugopal, the forum said all decisions taken by the Institute Governing Body relating to the redressal of grievances of SC and ST students must be implemented without any further delay.
The PMSF accused the AIIMS administration under Dr Venugopal of being involved in perpetuating caste discrimination at the world renowned healthcare institute.
''Even though we have repeatedly drawn his to discrimination against reserved category students, Dr Venugopal has done little to take corrective measures in this direction and from his attitude it is apparent that he has little desire to do so,'' said Ajay Singh PMSF student activist.
Around 60 PMSF students, carrying banners and placards, assembled outside Dr Venugopal's office to express their collective resolve to fight against caste discrimination.
