Oil exports go up to 89 pc

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) Sale of oil products in the country went up five per cent in April compared to last year in the same period, while exports zoomed to 89 per cent, official data said today.

The increase in consumption, which is attributed mainly to high manufacturing and economic growth, is reflected in the 10.27 million tonnes sales of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and cooking gas.

Led by diesel, sales rose at an annual 8.4 per cent to 3.96 million tonnes in April.

Naphtha sales rose to 4.8 per cent in April to 1.05 million tonnes compared to the same period last year.

Imports of crude oil went up 34.9 per cent to 10.99 million tonnes. While oil product exports went up 89.1 per cent to 2.71 million tonnes in April.

While the imports of oil products declined 12.5 per cent in April compared to last year.
