Itanagar, May 24 (UNI) KVIC chairperson Kumud Joshi today stressed the need for co-ordinated efforts between various agencies and Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for successful implementation of various rural development schemes.

Addressing a workshop on 'KVIC seeks convergence and synergy' here this morning, Ms Joshi stressed on involving the NGOs in rural area development and said steps had to be taken to improve the economy of the rural people, constituting over 80 per cent of the country's population.

Referring to the various activities of the KVIC, she said that the commission had failed to achieve the desired success because of various lacunaes, including absence of co-ordination between KVIC and state agencies.

''We should not work in isolation but should go for a concerted effort in all rural development programmes'', she advocated adding that there was no dearth of central fund and marketing prospects, but products should be as per market requirements.

Stating that the Commission would adopt two villages in each state as model village for implementation of various schemes, the chairperson urged the state Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) to identify such villages and forward to the commission for further action.

She emphasized that the youths passing out from various institutions and training centres should be given a package by the state government and concerned organizations to remove unemployment problems through creation of opportunities for them.

''Youths must become confident enough to stand on their own after getting their diplomas in different trades and banking institutions should also be convinced for lending loans to the passed-out trainees'', she added.

In his address, Arunachal Pradesh Industries, Textile, Handloom&Handicraft Minister Tanga Byaling highlighting various impediments in implementation of KVIC programmes in the state, suggested for creating awareness among the people on various rural development schemes.

Stressing on the need for establishment of emporium for marketing of products, the minister urged the KVIB to enhance production of cane and bamboo products, which have more market potentials.
