India and Japan sign MoU on IPR cooperation
New Delhi, May 24: India and Japan today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in Tokyo.
The agreeement was signed by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath and Japan Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akira Amari.
The two countries will cooperate in capacity building, human resource development and public awareness programmes as also share information and experience in respect of IPR regime.
Both countries will draw up annual action plans to implement the agreement which is a follow-up of the joint statement towards India-Japan strategic and global partnership made by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on December 15, last year.
