IFFCO Sanchar to launch telecom network in Punjab for farmers

Moga, May 24 (UNI) The newly floated company, IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited by its parent organisation, Indian Farmers Fertilizer Corporative Organisation (IFFCO) has sought permission from the Punjab Government for the launching of its telecom network in the state.

IFFCO Chairman Surinder Kumar Jakhar said here today the telecom network was part of the organisations efforts to expand the information technology tools network to the grass root level. IFFCO Sanchar had made encouraging strides in Uttar Pradesh, he added.

He said that that Kisan Sanchar Limited would explore the existing telecom network and update the technology to pass on information about modern farming techniques, besides dealing with economic, social and legal issues concerning the rural areas.

The telecom company aims to promote use and application of information technology tools with the objective of putting agriculture online for the farmers, exporters, traders, state agriculture department and the central government in order to achieve higher level of productivity and income for the farming community.
