Haryana: Rs 7.2 cr earmarked for Ladli scheme
Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked Rs 7.20 crore for the revised 'Ladli Social Security Pension Scheme' which would benefit an estimated 12,000 beneficiaries during the current financial year.
Haryana Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi said the scheme, which was initially introduced on January 1, 2006, had been revised following an announcement made by Chief Minister hupinder Singh Hooda at a function on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8 this year.
Under the initial scheme, a monthly allowance of Rs 300 per month was given to those who had no son or adopted son, but had daughters. The benefit was given to eligible beneficiaries from the 55th birthday of the mother or the father whoever would be older of the two till their 60th birthday.
Under the revised scheme, the age limit of beneficiaries had been reduced from 55 to 45 years and the rate of pension enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month.
She said the offices of District Social Welfare officers would receive application forms from eligible beneficiaries every month and after their endorsement by a committee, the beneficiaries would get the benefit of the scheme.
As many as 3880 beneficiaries were so far benefitted under the scheme, she added.
